Who publishes our guides
A guide credited to SurvivalPrepster is organizational editorial content. When a named contributor appears, the byline links to information that identifies that person. A reviewer and credentials are shown only when the identity and relevant qualification can be verified.
How we research preparedness topics
We prioritize primary and authoritative sources: emergency-management and public-health agencies, statutes and official government guidance, standards bodies, peer-reviewed research, and equipment manufacturers for product specifications. Sources should directly support the nearby claim rather than merely discuss the same broad subject.
Some older guides predate this formal standard and are being reviewed in risk order, beginning with medical care, medication, drinking water, firearms, legal requirements, and power equipment. A publication date alone does not mean a guide has received a recent review.
Safety and limits
Preparedness information cannot account for every medical condition, building, jurisdiction, climate, or emergency. Official instructions and qualified professional help take priority whenever they are available. High-risk pages should state important limitations clearly and distinguish emergency education from individualized medical, legal, or engineering advice.
Publication, review, and update dates
The publication date records when a guide first appeared. A last-updated or reviewed date is added only after a material check or revision. We do not change dates merely to make older content appear fresh.
Review schedule
- Every six months: medical guidance, drinking-water safety, food preservation, firearms, laws, and other high-consequence topics.
- Before each relevant season: hurricanes, winter outages, heat, wildfire, and other seasonal hazards.
- Every twelve months: remaining preparedness guides and all outbound editorial sources.
- Every three months: prices, availability, specifications, and links on commercial resource pages.
- As soon as practical: any page affected by a changed official recommendation, correction request, recall, or broken primary source.
A scheduled check does not automatically change the displayed date. The modification date changes only when the review results in a material revision or confirms guidance through a substantive documented check.

Corrections
When a substantive error is confirmed, the guide should be corrected and its modification date updated when the change materially affects the advice. Minor spelling or formatting fixes do not receive a freshness date.
